Where Leaders Come To Grow.

A few useful thoughts if you are considering / or thinking about going for an interview.

  1. Why are you going for the role?

  2. What is drawing you towards the position? (try and score these 1-10) 1 being low priority and 10 being high priority.

    1. organization,

    2. role/title

    3. management of a team(s)

    4. manager,

    5. location,

    6. salary,

    7. personal learning and development

    8. a good change

  3. What are the expectations in this role that will challenge your current skill set?

  4. What do you understand are the key must haves in the position?

  5. What do you feel you are going to learn and develop from the position?

  6. Do you feel you are going to be challenged in the positon or is it a stepping stone move?

  7. What do you know about the environment you are potentially moving into (and does it fit in with you)?

  8. How will the hiring manager (manage you) and does this work for you?

  9. What are the expectations and process for the 1st Interview 2nd Interview, testing, etc?

  10. Why has the position become available (are there any internal people going for the role)?

All the above are important check ins for you and I know there may be a number of others to include, to think about and consider. Do your research, ask around about environment – why do people join, why do people leave etc. Remember, if its not for you sit tight something will be right.

Finally, Congratulations on getting an interview – this is your time to personally shine. Be yourself and enjoy. Keep me posted on how you go.

Look after yourself, Nick
