Its was pleasure to open up my inbox this morning – not only is it our wedding anniversary (boy where does the time go) but also to receive over a dozen requests from potential people who want to discuss coaching with me for 2021. There is a big push around various parts of the world to make the most out of 2021 and as we head into our summer holidays here in New Zealand the mood is definitely one of ‘calm/focus and get things done’.
When I was reading those messages it got me thinking about the plans I had wanted to achieve when I set up Roud Career Coaching.
In 2016 I had a large blank piece of paper and over a few days jotted down all the specific goals – themes – ideas that I want(ed) to do over the next 26 years or so. I broke those goals into 5 year blocks and as we head into 2021 we will be turning 5.
I thought now was a good time to review my 2016-2021 goals (and to share with you the ups and downs of running a coaching business) in the hope that it inspires you to put plans/thoughts into action.
Welcome to today’s blog.
It is an absolute honour and privilege to sit alongside indidvuals, to work one-on-one with them in total confidence and to support them achieve their goals.
Running a business – their are no words that can or do describe it, I love the idea that running your own business is very similar to holding onto a rollercoaster (try an picture that right now…….do you see what I am saying 🙂
2020 will go down in history for good and for bad but one thing is for sure 2021 is ready and waiting for us. How are you planning to navigate the year?
My mission was on that original piece of paper and it is still very much at the forefront of every decision I make and just for the record it still gives me goosebumps when I look at it (so that is a good sign……) .
To serve all and as I do, let myself be open to each and every single person no matter views thoughts or status. As I continue my 26 year journey, learn and live my purpose, I will do allI can to help others achieve their goals whilst sharing my wisdom. Nick Roud x
I am so proud of where we are right now (today) where we are going and how we are progressing on our plan. Some things have worked well others not so, but all the while we have ups and downs I am learning and accepting the outcomes.
Change is all around us and having the confidence and maturity to embrace change will allow us all to follow our chosen paths. Please don’t allow change to smother your ambitions.
Here is a brief overview of what my 5 year goals were (2016 – 2021)
-
Be a great husband and a present dad (always working on that……)
-
Work alongside people who want to be amazing
-
Offer help to those who want to be helped (paid of not paid) just help…..
-
Serve my purpose every single day
-
Share my words (even though I am dyslexic make this a priority)
-
Don’t be afraid to say No
-
Get a Board of Directors
-
Reach every country in the world
-
Interview amazing leaders (household names and those who fly under the radar)
-
Treat people how I want to be treated
-
Get certified by the best coach in the world
-
Trust your gut – it has always served you well and been right……
Some of these goals I am still progressing on and others have been achieved. Some things have enabled my coaching business to grow and others have pulled me back a step
Each year I like to have a few specific goals, big and small and its normally over the summer period that I refine those down for the year coming.
What are some of your goals for 2021?
2020 has been very interesting for all of us where ever we live in the world, I am excited about 2021 – its getting closer ever day. So what are you planing for 2021, how are you going to look positively at the year ahead and what will you do to ensure you succeed?
Having a plan that you have personally created, that you are committed to and that you are invested in will not only allow you to remain focused but also enable you to reach and fulfil your potential.
Whether that means
-
Stepping up to a bigger role
-
Moving organisations
-
Finding your next job
-
Starting a business
-
Putting the spot-light on your leadership
-
Starting a family
-
Moving house, moving towns etc.
You can and will achieve amazing outcomes in your life and career, don’t be afraid to put those thoughts into words and onto paper, keep honest and be true to them, don’t be afraid to take your time, no need to rush. Trust your intuition and surround yourself with people who love you and who want you to succeed.
If you feel a coach could support you to take action and get the results you deserve then let’s talk, let’s see if working together will enable 2021 to be a successful year for you, I can’t wait to play a small part in your journey
