By Nick Roud Coaching.

Outplacement is a service that we provided to help former employees transition to new jobs and re-orient themselves in the job market. It’s not just about helping them find a new role. There is a lot more to consider and do.

I am witnessing first hand change, nearly everyday we are receiving calls from organisations and or individuals for support on Outplacement. We must not overlook the human impact that more often gets overlooked. Only today I’ve received 3 calls into my office where people’s roles are going to be affected and booking career transition coaching with me.

Here are some approaches to outplacement that we offer and I might suggest greatly help professionals, these are based on my experience as a career coach:

Career Counselling and Coaching (one-on-one)

* Provide access to career counsellors or coaches who can work with individuals one on one to identify their current strengths.

  • Help the individual update their CV
  • Help the individual refresh all the platforms for job hunting purpose
  • Prepare for modern day interviews.

Networking Opportunities

Create events or forums where outgoing employees can meet potential employers, industry contacts, and others who can help them find new opportunities. We are looking at creating a meet up for organisations to meet potential employees (watch this space)

Job Search Resources

Provide resources that can help individuals in their job search, such as access to job listings, job search tools, and information about companies and industries.

Emotional Support:

Recognize that job loss can be emotionally challenging. Providing access to counseling services or support groups can help individuals manage their emotions during this transition.

Financial Planning Assistance

Offer services to help individuals manage their finances during the transition period, including advice on budgeting and financial planning. This is done externally with trusted professionals in that space.

Workshops and Seminars

Conduct workshops on topics such as personal branding, social media for job search, and interview techniques to prepare individuals for the job market.

Final Note and Most Importantly Remember, the goal of outplacement is not just to help former employees find a new job, but also to ensure they are equipped with the tools and confidence to succeed in their next role. Having a coach you can partner with and who has the necessary tools to help is extremely important.

We pride ourself here at Nick Roud Coaching on showing respect for the individual and supporting them through a difficult transition. It’s important that an organisation offers outplacement services to their people when going through change.
