Where Leaders Come To Grow.

We acknowledge not everyone wants to improve and that is totally fine. But many and I mean many really do genuinely care about their professional development and ensure that each year they invest in their biggest assets – themselves!

It’s important to note that clients who have engaged with Nick Roud Coaching have shared with Nick many ah-ha moments that have left a lasting positive dent on them. Many have gone onto lead some amazing organisations in both the profit and not-for-profit sectors and that was supported through evidence based leadership coaching.

Post our time spent together which is anything from 12months to 6 months clients have seen a drastic shift in their leadership capabilities, confidence and capability. A caveat is the hard work that they have put into themselves!

Hiring a coach is more than a financial investment,  it’s an investment in those you serve, your family, friends and professional blue-print. Many a leader confirmed the power that a coach brings to them, the benefits that spill over into their personal life and communities. They share feeling ‘lighter’.

So are the benefits real?

Well Yes!,

all evidence here at Nick Roud Coaching is thoroughly measured and our research continues to show that every leader who engages with Nick for 6+ months improve as a leader. (Measured by leaderpulse a mini 360 survey that the leaders stakeholders rate them on)

A trusted leadership coach partners you, sits along side you, observes you thus bringing another set of ears and eyes to your toolbox. As a leader it’s vitally important to your ongoing success to have people who bring a different lens to you. It’s rare we see leaders surrounding themselves with ‘yes’ people.

A leadership coach will support you and allow you time to pause, think and really work on your own leadership strengths and development areas. A leadership coach does not judge, nor does he or she brake the confidentiality bond that is part of any leadership coaching relationship. Without confidentiality and trust, we don’t see real movement of improvement.

Some of the benefits that come from working with a coach include (as shared back to Nick Roud Coaching post engagement)

  • improved self awareness
  • improved well-being
  • growth in confidence
  • calmer demeanour
  • clarity
  • Having a non-judgmental sounding board
  • Value for money
  • happier
  • Enriched

The above list was based on research we took from CEOs, executives and emerging leaders, those professionals that had engaged with Nick for more than 6 months on his accredited leadership coaching program. We are also extremely proud to share that all our clients improved as a leader on the areas they looked to grow (based on our mini 360 survey LeaderPulse). This is a huge testament to the efforts and work put in by our clients.

So the question remains what is the long term effect on engaging with a coach?

This is something we are closely monitoring, we have data that goes back 7 years and over the next decade we will have more concrete clarity on this, but, there are no signs that we are not doing the right thing!. We will continue to connect with our clients around the world and understand the impact that has evolved from coaching and report back in due course.

It’s fair to say that Coaching isn’t for everyone, nor should it be, we ensure our clients come with the right intent, clarity on what is involved and an appreciation that coaching is so much more than just a coffee and chat!.

A Vice President – People, Culture & Capability for a Asia Pacific organisation shared back to us recently following a 12 months 1:1 executive coaching program, her experience of working with Nick, she shared that she had gone on many leadership courses around the world, had completed a MBA from a prestigious American university all of which added to her tool belt, but nothing had compared to working 1:1 directly with Nick, she said ‘he just see’s things differently, he gets you thinking, really thinking about yourself not others but yourself and no course or program I have been on really enabled that time for me,  she carried on to say “I learnt so much about myself, more than I thought I would, our conversations which at times were confronting enabled me go deep inside and find answers, he is a very special human who ensures no stone is left unturned.

This along with many other stories really show the power and benefit that leadership coaching brings

There is a flip side to the benefits of a leadership coach, those being the damage that coaching can do. These typically sit with the coach not being suitably qualified to operate at the executive end, lack of structure, lack of rules, no confidentiality, no suitable tools / assessments to enable the leader, lack of qualification, a leader who isn’t interested in working with a coach, a leader who has been told to work with a coach, a leader who is not willing to receive feedback, a leader who isn’t interested in putting in the hard work, a leader who doesn’t want to change. A blog on hiring a coach

In our experience having a coach who is not only vested in your success but also shines the focus fully on you is a coach that will bring out the very best in a leader. Coaching, at the right time, with the right coach, with the right leader and with the right desired outcomes will be one of your greatest professional investments.
